A flux-efficient infrared pulse laser which fires bolts of energy at medium range. An excellent weapon for prolonged bursts of fire.

This weapon is identical to most combat lasers with a carbon dioxide gain medium fired at eleven microns. A q-switched power supply permits ablation of the target which makes the weapon much more effective than a conventional beam, at the cost of much higher power consumption. Most often used on fighters or frigates, where the low range of the weapon can be offset by the maneuverability of the fitted craft.

The IR Pulse Laser is a light pulse weapon. It is the smaller version of the Pulse Laser.

Notes

This baby brother of the Pulse Laser fulfills a similar role in a smaller package. Compared to the Tactical Laser, it trades off range, accuracy against moving targets and flux efficiency for increased DPS and the ability to inflict hard flux. It is most useful where the ability to defeat shielded targets using a small energy mount is required. Due to its low per-shot damage, it is largely ineffective against armor.
