Neutrino detector
Detect in-system entities at very long range; unreliable with false readings.

Enabled with Level 1 Sensors (skill)

Reconfigures the fleet's drive field to act as a neutrino detector, allowing detection of human-made artifacts - and occassionally fleets - at extreme ranges.

High-emission sources such as stars, planets, jump-points, or space stations produce constant streams. Average sources produce pperiodic bursts. Low-emission sources produce occasional bursts.

Notoriously unreliable and almost guaranteed to produce numerous false readings.

Increases the range at which the fleet can be detected by 50% and consumes 1 unit of volatiles per day.

Cannot function in hyperspace.

–In-Game Description

  • Consumes Volatiles to use.
  • False positives appear as an infinite distance away. They can therefore be identified by noting a particular spike, moving perpendicular to it's direction for some distance and scanning again. If the spike has not moved in relative position then it is a false positive.
  • Planets/stars appear as a large, constant signal which can be safely ignored.
